Office Project Progress
After this weekend I feel like an archeologist. The past I dug into was my own and the site of the dig was my closets.
I found clothes from the 80’s. Stuff that I actually used to think looked good. Ha! I found a garbage bag tied in a knot and inside I discovered my old show bridle that I used on my mare Jenny. The tenth anniversary of her passing is next month. The silver has turned green, but the leather is in good shape. It’s totally useless, but I can’t part with it.
Like my wedding dress. It’s been preserved and boxed and takes up a huge chunk of storage space, but I can’t get rid of it. No one would want it anyway. The dress itself is quite small and looks like something from Gone with the Wind. So unless frill and ruffles and Chantilly lace come back in vogue, it stays.
But I did succeed in tossing a lot of stuff. Some of it hasn’t made it out the door yet, but it’s well on its way. I’ll be loading up my car with stuff for Good Will later this afternoon.
So, how much progress did I make, you ask?
I’m thrilled to report that I have completed Steps One and Two of my Office Project plan and am well on my way with Step Three. I never would have believed I’d have gotten that far in one weekend. We won’t discuss how many trips I made to Lowe’s the last two days, but I want to sing the praises of ClosetMaid organizer stuff. The system works! And it’s easy. My husband and I are veterans of many a home project war and let me tell you, we never fought once this weekend. Nor did we suffer any major injuries. Okay, he did scrape his head once on a shelf before he had installed the little rubber end caps that prevent such mishaps, but no blood was drawn.
And how does the finished product look? Here are before and after pictures of the bedroom closet. Judge for yourself.
In regards to the office, it’s still a work in progress, but where before I could see only clutter and little hope for a successful spare room-to-office conversion, I now see floor space and the potential for a genuine private workspace in which to write.

you've done a lot of work! Just for the record, I'm sure there's anything from the 80's that ever looked good. With the exception of Colleen Farrar's kicky miniskirt with matching tights and leg-warmers! You'll be all ready to dive back into work after this cleaning job you're doing. I'm redoing my website and would like to link to you...that okay with you?
